Lobbyists are currently converging on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. to voice their concerns over the proposed regulation of online casino gambling, poker and sports betting in the United States.

The US Justice Department has always maintained the stance that online gambling is illegal, however, the growth and success of internationally based online casinos has the lobbyists asking why is it illegal?

As a result of the pressure from the lobbyists, US lawmakers are starting to move towards the idea of a more regulated online gambling market. This new push would be part of the Republican ‘American Values Agenda’ and may be voted on in the coming months.

Many proponents of online gambling do not understand why the US has been stalling on these issues, they are calling for a remodeling of the gambling laws in much the same way that they have been overhauled in Great Britain.

The British Government has developed a competitive edge by re-working its gambling laws many times in order to meet the needs of gamblers, government and industry through proper regulation.

There is not doubt that Americans make up the vast majority of the worlds online casino gambling market, many lobbyists argue that it makes more sense to legalize it and subject it to taxation and regulation, rather than banning it completely.
